We welcome and affirm people of all abilities. We have taken the following steps to assure that no one is excluded for full participation in the life of our church.

Mobility

Our sanctuary, Johnson Room, religious education classrooms, restrooms and patio are accessible to those using wheelchairs or having limited mobility. We do have several gates throughout the property that are not accessible and require staff or lay leaders to prop open for full accessibility.

For Sunday services, there is handicapped marked parking in both the main and upper parking lots. From the lower parking lot, the sanctuary can be accessed by the walkway along the south side of the building, through a gate, and through a button-operated door. From the upper parking lot, the sanctuary is accessed through the gate, across the patio, and through a button operated door.

Restroom Facilites

UUCP has 2 gender neutral bathroom facilities on site.

Sight

Large print hymnals are always available. We also have Braille hymnals. Please ask any usher for assistance. If you would like an orientation tour of the campus during the week, contact the church office at 602-840-8400, opt. 1, ext. 202#, to make arrangements.

Hearing

Hearing assistance is available from the ushers during worship. All other UUCP-sponsored groups are encouraged to use hearing assistance in order to include those who are hard of hearing. To find out more about hearing assistance solutions for your UUCP group, contact Music Director Benjie Messer. We have a volunteer American Sign Language interpreter monthly; please see our American Sign Language Services page.

Chemical Sensitivity

At the request of many of our members and visitors, our staff has created a scent free space in our sanctuary during Sunday service.

This section is for people with chemical sensitivities who for health reasons need to limit their exposure to perfumes, colognes, scented body products (e.g. hairsprays, lotions, and deodorants), and cigarette smoke. If you are a nonsmoker who does not wear scented products, by all means join your friends who need to sit in the Scent-Free Zone. If you enjoy wearing scents, we ask that you refrain from sitting in or near the Scent-Free Zone. Thanks for helping make our sanctuary a safer, healthier, and more welcoming place for all.

Our Scent-Free Zone is now located in the back 2 rows on the west side of the Sanctuary near the piano.

Special Needs Children

If you would like your child to participate in the religious education program and feel that they may require special accommodation due to learning or behavior styles, please feel free to contact the Director of Religious Education in advance so the best possible arrangements can be made.

Pastoral Care

We provide pastoral care to all members regardless of ability. To build the beloved community, the volunteers on the care team receive special training to assist those who may feel unwelcome, patronized or marginalized because of their disability. They may not be able to fully remedy every situation, but they can provide a compassionate ear and a willingness to enlist the help of others. If you have a hidden disability that you think it’s important for someone to know, please contact a member of the pastoral care team or contact the minister to share your information in confidence.

Service Animals

We welcome service animals for those that require them.  If you have any questions not answered or concerns not addressed, please contact the church office at 602-840-8400, opt. 1, ext. 202# to seek further information.
